Community Schools Partnership Program
The California Community Schools Partnership Program (California Education Code 8900-8902) outlines the work of community schools to achieve supportive school environments for all students and all abilities, that coordinate services for the whole child and their community and providing pathways for success to all students and families.
The mission of the Riverside County Office of Education is to provide support to our school districts that are providing services to the students, families and communities of Riverside County. Our efforts are focused on centering schools as the hub for these services, and encouraging responsible community partnerships to further the work of transforming schools across the county.
Objectives
Riverside County community schools will:
- Develop and maintain shared-governance committees who monitor and make decisions on the implementation of each school site’s implementation plan.
- Create necessary infrastructures which foster instructional practices, school and community partnerships, and needs-based services embedded within the school’s community.
About the RCOE Community Schools Partnership
The Riverside County Office of Education partnered with the Southern Inland Regional Technical Assistance Center to launch their community schools initiative in 2021. The initiative serves Riverside County school districts and their schools who had been approved for the California Community School Partnership Program (CCSPP) grant.
The transformative nature of the initiative has allowed the community to be strengthened by partnerships and evidence-based practices that provide whole-child focused schools and instruction. Communities are positively impacted by the collaboration between leadership and community organizations that provide supports and services for students, families, and communities.
The California Community Schools framework is situated within state and federal systems and initiatives, built on proven practices and foundational learning, but scaling out the supports necessary for our students to thrive. This visual represents the coordinated efforts required within and among systems to create transformational change for the students of California public education.
