Intensive Behavioral Intervention Services for School Districts

With the growth in the area of autism, in recent years there has been an increased need for current information, effective teaching methods and training programs for parents and educators. To meet this need the Riverside County Office of Education has developed the Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) home and school program.

Functional Behavior Assessment

Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) are highly skilled in determining the problem behaviors, understanding the functions of behaviors and selecting appropriate intervention plans.

Based on the assessment results, we will design a comprehensive behavior plan to address the function of the behavior, teach replacement behaviors and address the student’s skill deficits.

Trainings on Positive Behavioral Support for Classroom Staff

The IBI program is committed to providing quality and ongoing training.

Topics include:

• Procedures for effective behavior change using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Behavior management in the classroom
• Understanding behaviors and the environment
• Proactive strategies to replace problematic behaviors
• Understanding replacement behaviors

Supervision Towards Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

Our supervisors have years of experience handling challenging behaviors in the school, community and home settings. Supervision hours may include onsite observation, phone conferences, review and discussion of data collection and analysis, functional behavioral assessment and analysis and/or group supervision.

Children Served

The RCOE IBI program serves children 18 months to 22 years of age who have handicapping conditions such as Autistic Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Asperger’s Disorder. Children receiving these diagnoses are referred to as children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Although this IBI program will specialize in treatment of children with ASD, other children with various disabilities who can benefit from IBI may also be served.
