Social Emotional Learning

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) defines Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as “a set of skills acquired and applied to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.” There are significant benefits of SEL including improved academic and behavior outcomes. As a result, since 2021, we have partnered with Panorama to administer a SEL screener to our students at the beginning of each semester (September and February).

The screener takes approximately  20 to 30 minutes to complete. The content asks students to self-reflect on Self-Management, Social Awareness, Emotion Regulation, Self-Efficacy, Growth Mindset, and Social-Perspective Taking. Panorama also provides evidence-based interventions, known as Playbook, in response to social-emotional learning results. This unique resource library is based on ideas and input of over 10,000 educators across the world.

Our Behavioral Health Team also provides SEL professional development through two cohorts to support student growth and success.
