LCAP Live! Video Series Continues With Equity in Action Focus on Foster Students
Like many school districts in California, the Lake Elsinore Unified School District (LEUSD) found that their foster student population was increasing with each passing year. District leaders were confronted with the reality that the diverse needs of foster students were not sufficiently being met, and a plan of action was needed to equitably address this specific population.
The story behind how Lake Elsinore’s Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAP) were updated to address foster students’ needs is the subject of the next episode of the Riverside County Office of Education’s LCAP Live! video series.
Each year, the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) supports all 23 districts in the county through the development and review of their LCAP plans. After reading through thousands of pages of plans, programs, and outcomes, the RCOE Assessment, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement (AACI) Unit within RCOE’s Educational Services Division wanted to find a way to “lift” great ideas off the pages of the LCAP, and shine a spotlight on exemplary programs that other districts could consider for their next LCAP plan. The LCAP Live! video series was developed to showcase equity in action through LCAP activities that are making a difference within Riverside County districts. The first episode featured the Dell Student Tech Crew at Jurupa USD.
