2024 Student Events Preview
The upcoming student event season in Riverside County for the year 2024 is poised to kick off, featuring a mix of in-person and virtual components across events. Dedicated students and coaches have invested months in rigorous preparation, aiming to showcase their skills at the county level and secure invitations to state and national competitions.
These events adhere to the guidelines set forth by both state and national competitions, ensuring alignment and collaboration. The climax of each event will be marked by in-person Award Ceremonies, adding a personal touch to the recognition of participants' achievements.

ACADEMIC DECATHLON
What:
Academic competition with the 2024 theme “Technology and Humanity”.
When:
January 13, 2024 – Essay and Objective Tests (Virtual)
January 27, 2023 – Speech/Interview, Super Quiz, and Awards

SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR
What:
Competition featuring science and engineering projects designed, developed, and displayed by students.
When:
March 1, 2024 – Project Set Up and Judging
March 2, 2024 – Public Viewing and Awards Ceremony

What:
Fictional legal trial competition with students trying the case as members of the defense and prosecution teams. This year’s trial is People vs. Clark.
When:
Seven rounds of competition starting January 25, 2024 and ending with the finals on February 22.
HISTORY DAY
What:
A year-long educational program in which students become historians. Theme for 2024 is "Turning Points in History."
When:

SPELLING BEE
What:
The traditional spelling bee will be held in person at Riverside County Office of Education Conference Center. The winner from Riverside County will move on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
