How is a county office of education different from a school district?

A county office of education (COE) serves as a key support system to districts and a liaison with the state for all types of educational needs. A COE does not directly oversee school districts, but provides valuable support and services that are essential to the operations of school districts and charter schools. This includes ensuring fiscally sound operations, approving Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP), and connecting districts with best practices to ensure student success and educator expertise. A COE also directly serves vulnerable student populations that may be early learners, living with a disability, incarcerated, expelled, or more.

What makes RCOE unique compared to other county offices of education?

Riverside County has the #2 graduation rate amongst the largest counties in California, serves more students than 17 individual states in the U.S.A., and is regularly honored for awards and recognitions at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
